How much will it cost to fix my equipment?

Technique Repairs offer competitive repair, service, and modification rates for Technics SL-1210, 1200, MK2, MK3, MK5 & MK5G turntables. However, due to recent lack of spare parts and discontinuation of some major spares, prices can vary. Therefore, all customers will be provided with a quotation for service or repairs from our initial examination process. Before any work is carried out, we will provide an estimate, based on the symptoms diagnosed by a technician. The technical diagnosis and examination process is free of charge. This figure is usually fair and accurate, based upon our knowledge, of most common faults and services provided. To give customers a fair, accurate and definitive cost, we need to make a detailed examination of the equipment, which may require dismantling your equipment. If the initial cost is found to be higher than initially estimated, all work will cease and a new quotation of cost will be provided to the customer for authorization. We will discuss the additional fault or repair's found, and the cost of repair or service with the customer. If the customer should wish to proceed with the additional repairs or services, consent will be required before any parts are sourced, repairs or services carried out.

How do I get my equipment to you?

All repairs or service are carried out by appointment only. Therefore, please contact us prior to bringing any equipment to us. We ask all customers to drop off equipment in person, where possible. We do not offer a courier service, all transportation is the sole responsibility of the customer. Drop off times are between 10pm and 6pm, Monday to Friday. This does not include out off hours dropoffs. However, if you would prefer to bring your equipment out of hours, you will need to make arrangements with us, before bringing your equipment to us.

You may also use a courier service, to get your equipment to us. If a courier service is used, the client will be responsible for the packaging and transit of the equipment. Technique Repairs is not responsible for any damage caused during transit of your equipment. If you have a special request, we will try to accommodate where possible!

How long can I expect the repair or service to take?

Most common repairs, service, or modifications are usually carried out within 48 hours period. However, If parts need to be sourced for a specific repair or issue, there maybe a delay on turn-around time. If your equipment is required for a specific date or event, please make sure you inform us in good time. So that we have enough time to repair, or service, your equipment within the timescale given, so that we can return your equipment in good time.

Are you qualified to service my precious equipment?

With over ten years electronic experience in sound engineering and with fully qualified engineers with many years of experience, in servicing and repairing electronic equipment. Technique repairs can guarantee your equipment will be returned intact and sounding great!

What is the communication process, further to your initial communication regarding the faults found and cost?

An initial verbal communiqué with the customer or email, outlining the fault, repair procedure, timescale and cost, will be relayed to the client for consent. Once the repair or service has been completed, the client will be notified for collection and payment.

Who takes responsibility if there is damage to my equipment in transit?

The client is responsible for all equipment transportation & transit. Technique repairs, does not offer a courier service or equipment collection as a policy. All equipment transportation is the sole responsibility of the customer.

I have several items that require repair or servicing, would I be eligible for a discount?

Discounts are given on large equipment repair or service contracts.

What if the equipment is beyond reasonable repair?

If the equipment is beyond financial or physical repair, in most cases, we will advise the customer on the best process for their equipment.

What does beyond reasonable repair mean?

Beyond reasonable repair means the cost of either parts, labour, service, or equipment will exceed the replacement cost of the item.

What if the same problem comes back again?

Each case is treated on its merits. We guaranteed our repairs for a month, from the date of repair. If, in the unlikely event, the same issue reoccurs within a month of the initial repair, we will resolve the issue at are own cost.

However, if under diagnoses, we find the reoccurrence of the fault is due to normal wear and tear, customer misuse, liquid damage, or customer neglect, the customer will be liable for the repair and diagnoses of the equipment.

Why would I want to modify my equipment?

Most modification are cosmetic, however, some modifications can help to enhance the performance and are designed to make the equipment function at its optimum.

What if I don’t like the modifications made to my equipment?

Unfortunately, rectifying modifications will incur some cost. Therefore, any modification reversal to the original spec, will be carried out at the cost to the customer. Please contact us for advice on modifications, to discuss if the modifications will help to improve or enhance your equipment.
